(October) Volvo Bus Australia is pleased to announce the addition of a Competency Manager to their Team. Industry and technical expert, David Woodward has been appointed to the role and will take up his new position from Monday 20th October.
Volvo Bus Australia sets a new game plan

Through April and May, Volvo Bus Australia invited a selection of their customers to participate in After Market focus groups across the country. The forums were conducted in order to gain insight into consumer perceptions, needs and values. “One of the main findings was that operators are looking for the OEM to provide technical training both at dealer level and customer level. The results made us realise that our future investment needed to be the National Competency Manager” says Sean Copeland, General Manager, Volvo Bus Australia.

Based in Sydney, Woodward will be responsible for developing the skillsets of Volvo Bus Key technicians across the Volvo dealer network as well as operators’ technicians and drivers.

From his previous role as Volvo Bus Regional Service Manager and over 35 years’ of bus industry experience, Woodward has a wealth of knowledge, experience and dedication which will help him with his new appointment. “I am thrilled about my new role as now I get to share my experiences with customers and dealers so that they can get the best results out of their Volvo’s. I hope that sharing my knowledge will increase the competencies of Volvo employees as well as customers” says Woodward. Woodward will also be supported by the Volvo Competence Development Team in Sweden.

Woodward is a qualified mechanic and highly experienced in presenting and training. He also has gained a Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment. Woodward was put to the test earlier this year when travelling the country for the Volvo Euro 6 Customer Forums. “Feedback was positive as Woodward has impeccable communication skills and expertise. I am confident that he will excel in his new role” says Copeland.

So what does this mean for Volvo Bus Customers? Volvo Bus Australia are now able to offer even more training and technical workshop packages tailored to the needs of their customers and to further develop and maintain the bus skills throughout the entire retail network.

Also accepting a new role in Volvo Bus Australia is Antra Saldums, who will now replace Kajsa Friberg as Commercial Aftersales Manager. Antra has been at Volvo Bus for over 5 years and within the group for 15. In this role, Antra is responsible for the management of commercial aftersales activities including; Genuine Volvo Parts sales and promotions, parts and service Agreements web based customer tools and telematics products. Antra is highly experienced in aftersales and is bound to make a great impression in her new role.
