Within a declining market, Volvo Bus Australia managed to deliver more units than in the previous year – making Volvo the market leader among fierce competitors. Not only were deliveries an achievement, soft sales increased and the team won the Bus Industry Confederation’s ‘Supplier of the Year Award’ and the ‘Best Display Award’ at the Australasian Bus & Coach Conference and Expo.

The Bus Industry Confederation National Supplier Award was awarded to Sean Copeland and John Louder from Volvo Bus Corporation & CMV Truck and Bus. They were nominated by BusVic due to their commitment to the Women on Board Seminar and Luncheon and the fact that Volvo continuously celebrate and encourage diversity and new initiatives within the bus industry.

Sean Copeland, General Manager Volvo Bus Australia, says “It is a fantastic achievement for the Volvo Bus team and CMV to be recognised by this great industry. Volvo prides itself on continuous improvement with a strong customer focus. We will continue to challenge ourselves to do better in 2016 and continue to work closely with all our customers and the industry”.

Volvo Bus Australia and CMV Truck and Bus have been long standing supporters of BusVic and this will continue in the future.

In addition to Volvo’s wins, 2015 saw Volvo deliver its first Euro 6, B8RLE city bus to Latrobe Valley Bus Lines and the delivery of Volvo’s world first B8RLEA Euro 6 articulated bus to the Public Transport Authority of Western Australia.

Another achievement was the build and delivery of Volvo Bus Australia’s first double deck, the B9TL, to The Public Transport Victoria. The bus is currently being trialled as a solution to Melbourne’s busy roads.

The team has also seen many structural changes in the last year with a new position being created for training and some personnel changes to existing positions.  Sean Copeland says, ‘We are continuously looking at ways to improve our business and meet customer expectations. In 2016, we look forward to delivering another successful year with a strong focus on driver and technical training and as well as the launch of Volvo Telematics”.
