Volvo Buses has received an order for 25 Volvo B9L buses to the local JGSP transit company in Novi Sad, Serbia. These are the first low-floor buses and the first buses with Euro 4 engines in Serbia.

Volvo Buses has a long history in Novi Sad. About 85% of the city buses in traffic in the city carry the Volvo brand, a mixture of high-floor and low-entry buses.

Now the city is taking the next step by ordering for the first time low-floor buses in which the passengers can board and exit quickly and easily at all doors. The order is for 25 Volvo B9L models, with Volvo’s strong but nevertheless clean and fuel-efficient 9-liter Euro 4 engine rated at 310 hp.

“A major advantage with the Volvo B9L is that the engine’s radiator is on the roof and, consequently, is above the dust and dirt from the street,” says Mats Blomberg, Volvo Buses’ market manager for Serbia.

“I am convinced that this solution, combined with the low-floor concept and our fuel-efficient Euro 4 engines, will contribute to us receiving more orders in Serbia.”

The chassis are being manufactured in Volvo Buses’ plant in Borås, Sweden, while the bodies are from the NeoBus company in Novi Sad. Delivery will be made during the spring, with start in March.
