Volvo’s B7RLE – Australia’s favourite chassis

The Volvo B7RLE city bus chassis has quickly become Australian bus operators’ favourite chassis with 370 delivered in 2010 alone; accounting for 1 in every 3 city buses sold that year.

This year Volvo is on track to deliver more than 200 Volvo B7RLE chassis, with 181 already delivered up to the end of October – more than any other chassis model across the industry.

Designed and built with the latest technology, including a 290hp 7-litre, 6-cylinder diesel engine, the B7RLE low entry city bus chassis offers excellent fuel efficiency and low emissions without compromising on power or drivability.

Punchbowl Bus Company Manager Steve Scott Jnr confirmed this by saying he couldn’t be happier with the performance of his five new Volvo B7RLE buses and has already ordered an additional nine.

“The new Volvo buses are running extremely well in our fleet, our drivers love to drive them and our operations and maintenance staff are very happy with their performance. After sales support has been excellent and has met our expectations” said Steve Jnr.

“On top of this Volvo’s are producing the best fuel efficiency in our fleet at the moment,” he added.

In additional to excellent fuel efficiency, the Volvo B7RLE is also extremely environmentally friendly with the engine achieving lower or equivalent emissions to natural gas buses

The Volvo B7RLE’s emissions are so low they are below the level specified for Enhanced Environmentally-friendly Vehicles (EEV). It was for this reason the Brisbane City Council who is currently running more than 130 Volvo B7RLE’s in its fleet and has another 52 on order, was awarded the Australian Lung Foundation’s inaugural Green Leaf Award.

Other state governments operating Volvo B7RLE buses in their fleets include the State Transit Authority of NSW and Public Transport Authority of WA who have recently started to take deliveries of their orders for 133 and 67 new Volvo B7RLE buses respectively.
