Changes at Volvo Bus Australia

David Mead will assume the role of Acting General Manager at Volvo Bus Australia after Sean Copeland left the company this week. David is no stranger to the Volvo Bus business in Australia having run the business from 2004 to 2011 and taking the Volvo brand to the leading position in the Australian market. David was also previously the Vice Chairman of BIC and served as a BIC Councillor for over 10 years.

Mead will act in the role until at least the end of 2017 providing stability to the organisation, its dealers and customers before beginning a search for a replacement. Mead will continue in his role as Vice President of Asia Pacific.

“I have enormous confidence in the Volvo Bus team here in Australia” says Mead.

“These are the people who took our brand in Australia to market leadership and we have the largest, most experienced team in the Australian Bus and Coach industry. I look forward to attending upcoming events such as the launch of our new Volvo B8R range, the Australasian Bus and Coach Expo on the Gold Coast and the BIC Conference in Hobart. I also look forward to visiting our Volvo Bus customers around Australia – the trust they place in our people and our product is always very humbling and I can’t wait to connect with our customers in coming days, weeks and months”

Lauren Downs also re-joins the Volvo Bus Australia team in the area of Major Accounts. After spending 2 years in Sweden and an additional 3 years working from Singapore in Volvo’s Asia Pacific organisation, Lauren returns to the team having worked in Marketing and Sales Support from 2008 to 2012.

“Lauren brings back with her 5 years of international experience as well as a large knowledge base related to our BRT and electromobility products” says Mead.

”Her knowledge of the Australian industry coupled with global perspective will allow us to better serve our customers.”
